Poke the Bear Community Ride in Madras

By Dirty Freehub / Central Oregon

If the fireworks or your Fourth of July picnic left you ready for a little peace and quiet, wind down your long weekend by joining us in Madras to ride Poke the Bear—backwards!

Along the way, you’ll visit the famous 27-foot bear statue and Hay Creek Ranch, which began as a large sheep ranch in 1873. (Stagecoach lines ran through the ranch headquarters until 1912.) You’ll also enjoy sweeping mountain views and fast gravel roads through the Baldwin Hills.

The Route:
The Poke the Bear route is 33 miles with 2,400 feet of climbing.

Your Ride Organizers:
Linda English (“Gravel Girl”) is a Co-Founder and Executive Director of Dirty Freehub. Kevin English is a Co-Founder and Director or Routes and Technologies for Dirty Freehub.
