Content Manager Job Posting – March 2024

Overview

Dirty Freehub is looking for a Route Developer/Content Manager on the Oregon coast to develop new gravel Ride Guides.
The ideal candidate should be passionate about cycling and connect with our social missions of:

    • Promoting health and well-being (i.e., getting people out to ride)
    • Keeping riders safe (i.e., getting riders on to the right route for them)
    • Preserving the culture, history, and heritage of where we ride
    • Bridging the urban / rural divide
    • Increasing the awareness of the lands and animals where we ride
    • Having a positive economic impact on the towns where we ride

Qualifications

    • Gravel Cyclist with the ability to ride steeper and longer routes. (50 miles+ with 4,000 feet+ of gain.)
    • A passion for culture, history, heritage, wildlife, and the environment.
    • Strong writing and editing skills
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work remotely, independently and as part of a team (experience using Google Drive and associated Google Tools, Zoom and similar technologies)
    • Strong communication skills (in-person and remote)
    • Self-directed and self-motivated learner
    • Curious and open to new technologies and tools, including ChatGPT, Grammarly, etc.
    • Experience with WordPress and an understanding of HTML
    • Familiarity with RideWithGPS and other relevant cycling apps and tools
    • Photography and videography skills.

Other Skills (Nice to have, not required)

Experience in a content management role
Familiarity with the culture and history of the Oregon Coast area
Video and photo editing experience, including resizing, color correction and composition

The Goals for the Work:

Create Ride Guides that can be reviewed and then published by Dirty Freehub team

The Work

The work involves riding a route in development and taking pictures and videos during the ride, along with route notes. Then creating the points of interest and creating the Ride Guides. The following routes are examples of completed guides (i.e., the desired end product).

Hours

The project starts immediately and ends around the middle of October. While this is work on a specific project, we hope that this position would continue onto other projects in the Western United States.
The project is for approximately 20-30 hours a month, publishing 1-2 Ride Guides in a month. Time worked is extremely flexible; weekends, evenings are ok.

The Interview Process

The interview process will be two-part:
Formal interview
Work demonstration
In cooperation with our senior route manager, you will work through the process of producing a Ride Guide. The work demonstration portion of the interview process is paid.

Pay

$20 to $35 per hour. Commensurate with skills. We will also reimburse for travel expenses.
