Mountain climbs, beautiful river views, and a gravel KOM” is the way this route was promoted when put on as a Gran Fondo in 2019. The Fondo was a bust, but we believe the route has potential.

Even though the route then was mostly paved road, it appears the difficulty of the gravel was undersold. The event has not been put on as a Gran Fondo since. However, with a gravel bike sporting 40mm tires and a few route modifications (which we made!), we think this route has potential.

Caution, this is a Development Route. It has not been fully vetted or ridden by the Dirty Freehub Team. Go prepared and expect a bit more adventure. Any feedback you have would be much appreciated. You can leave it below in the comments block.

Highlights & Remarkable Spots

Steep Pitch / ~ mile 10.1

This is a short but really steep pitch! This section is rideable although most people may find this more worthwhile to walk. This section keeps the route off the highway.

When We Like to Ride This

We recommend you give it a go in the spring when the dirt / gravel is firm, the washboard is less, and the days are not brutally hot.

Terrain & Riding

This route happens to be on a mostly paved road. However, the difficulty of the gravel is tricky! The sections of gravel are steep.

The Start

Route Notes

  1. We recommend a red blinky light with rear looking radar detector for the on road sections of the route (i.e. Garmin Varia)
