Walla Walla is famous for its renowned road riding, but the locals have been venturing into the Blue Mountains for years to get their fix of first class gravel roads. This course includes the iconic, and challenging, Cottonwood Creek climb. But it is bit bigger than it little brother, the 45. The 65 and its partner courses (the 45 and the 95) stay together for the first 24 miles.
“All three courses have steep sections some might walk up without proper gearing. Courses are designed for experienced cyclists and are not for the faint of heart! Both the 45 and 65 courses are the roughest on the climbs and have relatively smooth gravel on the descents. 700×32 is the narrowest we would go, but a 40mm tire might just be perfect.” By Allegro Cyclery.
Caution, this is a Development Route. It has not been fully vetted or ridden by the Dirty Freehub Team. Go prepared and expect a bit more adventure. Any feedback you have would be much appreciated. You can leave it below in the comments block.
We recommend a red blinky light with rear looking radar detector for the on road sections of the route (i.e. Garmin Varia)
