Overview
Dirty Freehub is seeking a Work Crew Coordinator to support our Dirty Roads Team in Oregon.
This volunteer role helps organize community-led road and trail maintenance efforts—especially critical this year due to
catastrophic rains and flooding in December 2025, which likely caused widespread landslides, washouts,
and tree fall across many of our routes.
This role is mostly remote and focuses on collecting maintenance needs from the community, coordinating with team leads,
and helping organize volunteer work parties.
- Time Commitment: ~1–3 hours per week
- Season: Late March through October (with the goal of continuing year after year)
- Location: Oregon-focused | Remote
What You’ll Do
As the Work Crew Coordinator, you’ll help turn community feedback into well-organized maintenance projects by:
- Collecting and tracking maintenance needs from the Dirty Freehub community via Route Guide comments, direct emails, and Facebook posts/messages)
- Organizing information in a shared tracking system (Google Sheets)

Creating clear outreach communications to recruit volunteers via:
- Monday.com email system (Dirty Roads Crew volunteer list)
- Social media posts (especially Facebook)

Coordinating with the Dirty Roads Crew Team Leads (JeffB and MikeS) to:
- Confirm priority locations and timing
- Schedule work parties
- Estimate the number of volunteers needed
- Plan equipment/tools needed for each project

Creating a simple work party info sheet for each project, including:
- Where the work is needed (location + meeting details)
- What work is being done (brushing, tread work, tree removal, etc.)
- What volunteers should bring
- Safety notes and expectations
- Basic mapping support (Avenza or similar platforms)
What Success Looks Like
- Community reports of route issues are captured and organized
- Volunteers have clear instructions and know how to show up prepared
- Work parties are scheduled with the right number of people and the right tools
- Dirty Freehub can respond quickly to storm and flooding impacts across Oregon routes
Helpful Skills (Nice to Have)
You don’t need to be an expert—just organized, proactive, and comfortable communicating.
Helpful experience includes:
- Volunteer coordination or project coordination
- Clear writing and communication
- Basic mapping or navigation skills (Avenza, Gaia, Ride with GPS, etc.)
- Comfort using Google Sheets and basic digital tools
- Familiarity with gravel routes, trails, or outdoor stewardship is a plus

You’ll be supported by the Dirty Roads Crew Team Leads (JeffB and MikeS) and the Dirty Freehub team.
Reasonable miscellaneous expenses will be covered (as approved in advance).
