Giselle’s Dad on his first ride back
Giselle is a graphic designer and outdoor enthusiast originally from Iowa, now living in Oregon. Giselle is in recovery from after donating a kidney to her father.
Message from Giselle:
I am an artist, a cyclist, a skier, a birdwatcher, and also a kidney donor. In 2024 I donated my left kidney to my father after he spent a year on dialysis due to complications from a heart transplant. Gravel biking played a huge part in my recovery due to its accessibility- and being outside was critical to my mental health during this time.
While my short term recovery was hard, I’m a year out from my donation and you wouldn’t even know I have one kidney.
Giselle’s Simple Ask of You!
More than 103,000 people are on the kidney transplant list and the wait time is 3-5 years. My dad didn’t have that long to wait and it’s the same case for many others. Living and deceased organ donation can save multiple lives and give people a second chance. Make sure you are registered as an organ donor and consider being a living donor if someone you love is in need. Here’s where to register!
