Our very own Rock Doc, KimE (yes, she has a PhD in geology) picked out her favorite routes with interesting geological features to share in this collection. Our Ride Guides are stuffed full of fascinating geology facts that will have you tossing around phrases like basalt, hoodoo, metamorphic and caldera in no time.

From herons to hawks, we see cool birds all the time while riding. But here’s our collection or routes that we think are specifically great for visiting great birding spots.

We love art … especially when it’s outside. A cool sculpture. A mural. Rock art. Here’s a few that we thought were extra special.

This is a list of rides in the Bend area that are:

• short in length, usually less than 25 miles
• less than 2000 feet of gain, and
• less than a 20 minute drive from Bend, Redmond, LaPine, or Sisters.

They are meant to be a quick after work rides or rides for early spring / late fall when the days are short and the weather is “iffy”.

We seem to have a fondness for old cemeteries, something about walking through grave sites that goes perfectly with a good rest break.
