Past Event: Gravel Bike and Birding Event – Bend City Nature Challenge

Riding through underpass with art work.On April 27th, Bend will have its first-ever City Nature Challenge through efforts of Think Wild and supported by Dirty Freehub. The City Nature Challenge is a global event that encourages citizen science to find and document wildlife observations while reducing the barriers for people to connect with nature. We will be recording our observations through the iNaturalist app.

We will be using the Dirty Freehub route called Townie which was designed specifically to inspire you to learn the secret ways to commute by bike around Bend and avoiding traffic. While you will see end up on some roads with cars, we did our absolute very best to avoid the cars. We recommend bringing a red blinky light. This is going to be a ride emphasized on the city nature challenge so although we will be riding, expect there to be some time to stop and collect data / images for the challenge. More information can be found in the registration link (below.)
